Los Altos High Celebrates Graduating Class of 2011

Surrounded by a joyful crowd of family and friends, nearly 400 seniors celebrated their long-awaited graduation ceremony at Tom Burt Field on Friday evening.

"Go out in the world and define yourself," said Principal Wynne Satterwhite in her commencement address. "Your dreams of the future will sustain you."

An all-girl lineup of student speakers—including Yareli Flores, Rachel Grate, Jill Rubin and Carolyn Yang—also addressed the crowd with words of encouragement and support.

Flores, who recalled the words of her father, said, "Education is the best legacy we can leave you."

The school - nine students who maintained a 4.0 grade-point average all four years of high school. 

The Los Altos High School Band & Orchestra performed the processional with "Pomp and Circumstance," while the Main Street Singers sang "The Road On" and "Not to Say Goodbye."
