Los Altos Schools' Khan Academy Experiment in The Economist
Magazine describes it as a glimpse at technology that could better teachers in schools, too.
Los Altos School District continues to draw national and now international media interest, in part by being a high-tech trifecta—a Silicon Valley school using a program that got its start on YouTube and is funded by Bill Gates' foundation.
So the latest in a steady stream of articles about LASD's experiment with the Khan Academy is now in the Sept. 17 edition of The Economist.
We might forgive the cliched and nonsensical description of Los Altos as a "leafy suburb of Silicon Valley," when the writer goes on to describe the learning that takes place at and , in the article.

After all, it's hard to complain about bouquets such as, "...spend a few minutes playing with the Khan Academy dashboard of a class in Los Altos, and you see a vision of the future."
The article in the Economist quotes Egan teacher Courtney Cadwell as well as Santa Rita teacher Kami Thordarson about students' interaction with each other and the subject, and speculates that technology such as this may be the key to more fairly evaluating teachers.
