Police Log: Gunshot Sounds in the Night

The following information was provided by the Los Altos Police Department.

• Traffic accident: 7:37 a.m., Jan. 24, 100 block of University Ave.; police responded to a major injury accident. A report was taken.
• Gas leaf blower: 10:28 a.m., Jan. 24, 200 block of Marich Way; police responded to a complaint of a gas leaf blower violation. Responding officer advised the user about the city code.
• Parking violation: 12:45 p.m., Jan. 24, North Springer Road and El Monte Avenue; police responded to a parking violation complaint. Advised the driver to move the vehicle.
• Abandoned vehicle: 1:48 p.m., Jan. 24, Starlite Lane and University Avenue; police tagged an abandoned vehicle.
• Parking violation: 2:09 p.m., Jan. 24, Fallen Leaf Lane and Ben Roe Drive; police responded to a parking violation complaint and issued a citation.
• Commercial alarm: 8:53 p.m., Jan. 24, 400 block of University Ave.; police responded to a report of a commercial alarm. Determined to be equipment malfunction.
• Suspicious vehicle: 11:26 p.m., Jan. 24, Peninsular and Thurston avenues; police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle. A field interrogation card was completed.
• Stranded motorist: 4:50 p.m., Jan. 25, Cristo Rey Drive and Holt Avenue; officers rendered assistance to motorist whose vehicle was disabled.
• Noisy animal: 7:06 p.m., Jan. 25, 900 block of St. Joseph Ave.; police responded to a complaint about a barking dog. A warning was left at the premises.
• Misdemeanor warrant: 8:11 p.m., Jan. 25, 600 block of Hollingsworth Dr.; police made a citation arrest.
• Misdemeanor warrant: 11 p.m., Jan. 25, 1600 block of Austin Ave.; police made a misdemeanor warrant arrest.
• Traffic accident: 7:01 a.m., Jan. 26, Fremont and Parkhills avenues; police responded to a non-injury traffic accident and rendered assistance to the parties involved.
• Traffic accident: 2:04 p.m., Jan. 26, 2300 block of Homestead Road; police responded to a non-injury traffic accident and assisted the parties involved with name exchanges.
• Loose dogs: 9:21 p.m., Jan. 26, Arastrardero Road and Hwy. 280, Los Altos Hills; police responded to a report about loose dogs. The call was referred to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office.
• Gunshot sounds: 10:24 p.m., Jan. 26, Homestead Road and Foothill Expressway; police responded to a report of the sounds of gunshots in the area. The scene was quiet when police arrived and departed.
• Suspicious vehicle: 11:20 p.m., Jan. 26, 900 block of Fremont Ave.; police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle. Arriving officers talked with the vehicle’s occupant and determined no crime was committed.
