Residents Advised To Avoid Dawn or Dusk Jogs In Portola Valley
Deer carcass found, possbily killed by mountain lion.

San Mateo County Sheriff’s officials said residents found a deer carcass Friday morning in Portola Valley that they believe was killed by a mountain lion.
Residents of the 1100 block of Westridge Drive found the carcass in their driveway and called the sheriff’s office at about 7:45 a.m., sheriff’s officials said.
Sheriff’s officials suggest residents avoid approaching a mountain lion if they see one, especially if it is feeding or is with offspring. Most lions avoid confronting humans, sheriff’s officials said.

Officials suggest residents avoid hiking or jogging at dawn or dusk when the lions are most active, keep a close watch on and pick up small children and face the lion, make noise, throw objects and make themselves look bigger if confronted by a lion.
