Sergey Brin Makes Forbes List of Top 20 Billionaires

Forbes lists Sergey Brin’s residence as Los Altos and places his personal net worth at $30.1 Billion on March 3, 2015. While Forbes noted the soaring success of Google, it also mentioned Brin’s personal struggles, “In January 2015, Google announced it would stop making the current version of the augmented reality spectacles, which had become Brin’s signature accessory and were slated to be sold commercially. Brin made headlines in the fall of 2013 for his affair with a 27-year old Google executive, which caused him to separate from wife Anne Wojcicki and reportedly sparked a rift with Page.”

Brin and Wojcicki have been major benefactors of Los Altos, funding initiatives that have enhanced the lives of residents.

The magazine says there are now 1,826 billionaires worldwide with a combined net worth of $7.05 trillion, up from $6.4 trillion a year ago.

There aren’t any surprises at the top of the Americans on the billionaire heap: Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, Berkshire Hathaway’s Warren Buffett and Oracle’s Larry Ellison are the leaders.

Forbes, which has been compiling the list since 1986, says the rankings show entrepreneurship is alive and well: 1,191 members of the list are self-made billionaires, while only 230 inherited their fortunes.
