Single Scratchers Ticket Bought In Los Altos Pays Off Big
A woman who purchased a single ticket at a Los Altos grocery store won $600,000, California Lottery officials say.

LOS ALTOS, CA — A $1 California Lottery Scratchers ticket paid off big recently for a customer at a Lucky supermarket in Los Altos. According to California Lottery officials, that customer was Siosi Taunaholo, who initially went to the grocery store at 2175 Grant Road to rent a DVD from a Red Box machine. After selecting her movie, Taunaholo decided to pick up a $1 "Set for Life" Scratchers ticket from the store. That last-minute decision paid off big because she ended up winning the game’s top prize of $600,000, lottery officials said.
"I bought the ticket because I thought [it] might be my lucky day," said Taunaholo, who told lottery officials she plans on using the money toward a home purchase.
Lottery officials say the top prize from the winning Scratchers ticket works out to $2,000 a month for 25 years. Taunaholo also has the option of taking a lump-sum cash option amount of $348,000 before taxes.
