Weekly Police Call Roundup: Flattened Squirrel; Road Rage; and DUI Arrest
Patch looks back at selected incidents logged from Los Altos police logs between Dec. 17 and 20. Among them: a flattened squirrel, a road rage argument, annoying computer messages, and a drunken driver arrested.

There were numerous animal calls during the week, including a report of a flattened squirrel and a wayward deer on local roadways.

On Dec. 17 a dead squirrel was reported at 9:16 a.m. on the 1600 block of Dallas Avenue; police related the information to Palo Alto Animal Services. On Dec. 19 police responded to a 10:14 a.m. report of a collision between a vehicle and a deer at Foothill Expressway and Arastradero Road in Palo Alto. The matter was referred to police in Palo Alto. No human injuries were reported.
A loose dog was reported missing from a residence on the 900 block of South Springer Road on Dec. 18. The dog returned home on its own by the time police arrived; officers left a note for the owner. At 10:24 a.m. Dec. 19 police responded to a report of a barking dog on the 1400 block of Braddale Avenue. Officers advised the owner to quiet the pet.

A family disturbance was reported at 10:26 a.m. Dec. 17 on the 1400 block of Elnora Court. An assault and battery report was taken in a mother-son altercation, said Agent Frank Bañuelos. The incident occurred when the son grabbed his mother’s wrist when she refused to give him money for cigarettes. The mother did not require medical attention, and the son had left when police arrived.
Police were dispatched at 6:54 a.m. Dec. 18 to the 300 block of Portola Avenue on a report of annoying computer messages being sent. The matter was determined to be a civil issue and not a crime. No report taken.
A road rage disturbance was reported at 12:18 p.m. Dec. 20 at Foothill Expressway and Homestead Road. Responding officers provided assistance to one of the motorists involved; the other party had left the scene by the time officers arrived.
At 6:36 p.m. Dec. 20 a motorist was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence on the 1700 block of Granger Avenue.
