Coronavirus: Santa Clara County Reports 1 More Death

The latest reported death brings the total in Santa Clara County to five.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — The County of Santa Clara Public Health Department announced one new death from the new coronavirus Tuesday, bringing the total number of deaths in the county to five.

A man in his 50s who was hospitalized on Saturday, March 9, and died on Tuesday, March 17.

The department is working closely with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the State of California Department of Public Health, and other partners as the new coronavirus situation continues to change.

The county also upped its confirmed infected count to 155 Tuesday,
adding 17 cases from the day before.

Additionally, 56 people are hospitalized, with 70 cases presumed transmitted through community spread and 18 associated with international travel.
