El Camino Health Maintains Highest CMS 5-Star Hospital Rating

Mountain View, CA – For the fourth year in a row, El Camino Health's Los Gatos and Mountain View hospitals earned five stars, the highest ranking possible, from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The national average among hospitals is three stars.

CMS annually assigns star ratings to hospitals nationwide based on their performance across a variety of quality measures divided into five categories: mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience and timely and effective care. The overall hospital rating ranges from one to five stars. CMS developed the program to help consumers make more informed decisions by giving them a way to compare hospitals based on quality ratings, and to help hospitals note areas for improvement.
