El Camino Health Named San Jose's Top Community Hospital by U.S. News, Earns 18 High-Performing Ratings

El Camino Health has been named the No. 1 community hospital in San Jose and earned 18 "High Performing" ratings in U.S. News & World Report's 2026-2027 Best Hospitals rankings, placing it among California's top 20 hospitals.

"These rankings reflect what matters most to patients: excellent outcomes, compassionate care and access to nationally recognized treatment close to home,” said Shreyas Mallur, MD, chief quality officer at El Camino Health.

“High Performing” specialties are rated based on outcomes

El Camino Health received “High Performing” ratings in 18 procedures and conditions, including cancer surgery, cardiac care, diabetes, maternity care, neurology, orthopedics and rehabilitation. Additionally, El Camino Health was awarded a new high performance distinction in rehabilitation this year.

How patients rank their experience

Among the measures evaluated,

●92% of El Camino Health patients say they would recommend the hospital to others.

●90% of patients were satisfied with their hospital stay.

El Camino Health has moved up 22 spots in the California Best Hospitals list during the past two years from the 40th spot in 2024-2025.

How performance is evaluated

The U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals list is in its 37th year evaluating hospital performance in both serious specialty cases and general procedures and conditions, based on patient outcomes from treatment and recovery and measures of care, like nurse communication and patient experience.
