Firefighters Knock Down 5 Small Fires Off Hwy 17
The cause of the blazes is under investigation.

Five small vegetation fires along state Highway 17 near the Redwood Estates community burned 1 acre this morning, a Santa Clara County fire spokeswoman said.
The fires were reported around 10:20 a.m. on the right-hand shoulder near southbound Highway 17 between the Redwood Estates community and Summit Road, fire spokeswoman Stephanie Stuehler said.
Firefighters faced thick brush while battling the fire and were able to control it by about 10:55 a.m., according to Stuehler. The fires did not reach structures in the area, but a fence was damaged, she said.
