“Between Here and There: Subtle Realms” by the artist, Jennifer Muskopf.
The show will feature Jennifer’s mixed media paintings set in imaginary underwater caves. The work is an amalgamation of real and fictional characters inhabiting colorfully embellished underwater caves. Jennifer paints the characters and places that inhabit her alternate reality. The cast of characters includes Buddha, cool kids, vain women, wicked men, the Seven Dwarfs, Santa Claus, unicorns, pets and other assorted real and imagined people and objects. Jennifer sets these characters amidst the backdrop of wet and dripping aqua flavored caves creating scenarios that force the question of what is real and what is not. She gets to wonder that there’s a fascinating amount of intrigue in this created reality, from the local folklore to the abandoned cars, forgotten and neglected on the side of a place of desolation. The works are a window into these invented landscapes, people and places, all reflecting a certain playfulness of a creative vision.
“Between Here and There” is curated by artist, fake scientist, art collector, and gallerist Michael Rosenthal.
