Jordan Chan Wins Club and Zone Competitions
Chan competed in the Club, Zone, and Region levels of the California Lions Clubs Multiple District Four Student Speakers Contest.

Los Gatos, April 8, 2021 – Jordan Chan a 10th grade student at Los Gatos High School recently competed in the Club, Zone, and Region levels of the California Lions Clubs Multiple District Four 84th Annual Student Speakers Contest. She placed first in the Club and Zone levels. Current events in our community and around the world this year have influenced the selection of the contest topic: “Distance and Online Learning: Pros and Cons”. Los Gatos High School English and Debate teacher, Zachery Davison-Wilson, helps the students each year to participate.
The California Lions Clubs Multiple District Four designed the contest to bring students from all over California the opportunity to develop skills in critical thinking, public speaking, and presentation.
Ms. Chan’s speech at the Club Level was judged by, Robert Rennie, Los Gatos Town Council Vice-Mayor, Catherine Somers, Executive Director of the Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce, and Judy Peterson, Journalist.

Los Gatos Lions Club President Clyde Nunes said he was impressed by the expression and creativity of Ms. Chan’s presentation, “I’m so proud that our club is able to provide local high school students an opportunity to share their views and compete for cash awards and scholarships.”
Chairpersons of the Los Gatos Lions Club Student Speakers Contest Denise Ramón Herrera and Carol Musser would like to thank the families, teachers, coaches, administrators, and supporters of the student contestants for their dedication and interest in helping students through this process.
