Emergency crews treated one of the men at the scene and the other was transported to a hospital for injuries not considered life-threatening, Jensen said.
Investigators who spoke with witnesses and victims learned about a Toyota Prius connected with the shooting, according to Jensen. The vehicle was found in the area of state Highway 17 and Lark Avenue in Los Gatos, Jensen said.
The driver, Redmon, allegedly led deputies on a high-speed pursuit north to East Hamilton Avenue, where he exited and crashed into a wall at the off-ramp, Jensen said.
A passenger in the vehicle was injured and transported to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Jensen said.
Redmon allegedly fled from the deputies but was later detained and arrested, according to Jensen.
The names of the two men who died have not been released as of this morning.
The crash closed a portion of East Hamilton Avenue in both directions and the Highway 17 ramps in the area for most of the afternoon Wednesday.
