Motorcyclist Killed In Highway 17 Crash Is Identified

A motorcyclist fatally struck by a car on state Highway 17 on Friday morning in Lexington Hills has been identified.

LOS GATOS - A motorcyclist fatally struck by a car on state Highway 17 on Friday morning in Lexington Hills has been identified as 69-year-old Cornelius Talbert of Scotts Valley, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office.

Talbert was driving a 2016 Harley-Davidson motorcycle that collided with a gray Honda Accord on southbound Highway 17 north of Madrone Drive shortly before noon, California Highway Patrol officials said.

The Honda driver, a 53-year-old Soquel man, struck the left side of the motorcycle while switching lanes.

Talbert lost control of the vehicle, which overturned, and the impact ejected him to the roadway, CHP officials said.

Talbert then went down an embankment of dirt and rock. Responding emergency crews took him to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, where he succumbed to his injuries about an hour later, according to the CHP.

The Honda driver didn't report any injuries and wasn't arrested in connection with the collision, CHP officials said.
