Next Door Solutions to Host Annual Girls Got the Blues Benefit Concert

Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence, Santa Clara County’s oldest and largest non-profit domestic violence service provider, announced it will host its annual Girls Got the Blues benefit concert to support efforts to provide services for survivors of domestic violence. The event will be held on Sunday, March 24th, 2024 at 2 p.m. PDT at the San Jose Woman’s Club. 75 South 11th St, San Jose, CA 95112. Tickets can be purchased online for $40. The event is intended to raise community awareness about the services provided in Santa Clara county by Next Door Solutions, including a shelter for victims, a 24-hour hotline, support groups, legal representation and more. This year’s event marks the 11th annual concert and will include a raffle with proceeds to benefit Next Door Solutions.

The line-up for this year’s band will once again be led by Lara Price, vocalist, guitarist, and band leader who has been nominated for Soul Blues Female artist by the Blues Foundation. She has been a long-time supporter of Next Door Solutions’ mission and survivor services, appearing at many of the organization’s events to raise awareness about domestic violence.

Girls Got the Blues is an all-star, female blues band where members come together from across the country once a year for this important event. This year’s band line-up includes Robin Roth, Vicki Grossi, Pam Hawkins, Dolly Rappaport and Janice Maxie Reid. Opening acts include Sweet Nectar featuring Sue McCracklin and Maureen Smith, in addition special guest, Kid Andersen.

“It is not often that our community can come together in a fun way to support survivors of domestic violence. Girls Got the Blues is that great opportunity to raise awareness and get involved in a supportive and inclusive way,” said Colsaria Henderson, executive director of Next Door Solutions. “This is our 11th year for Girls Got the Blues which is the result of the enduring commitment of these musicians to lend their talent and appear year after year. It is also a reflection of the tremendous success and support the South Bay community has for this event. ● One in four women and one in seven men have experienced, physical and/or sexual violence and/or stalking by an intimate partner

● In Santa Clara County, Next Door Solutions received more than 14,800 callers to its 24/7 hotline last year

● More than 2,400 Santa Clara County residents received services from Next Door Solutions, including walk-in crisis counseling, risk assessment, safety planning, basic need items including food, case management, housing assistance, therapeutic services, and healing support groups.

● Of those, more than 1320 clients received legal services from Next Door Solutions including legal advocacy, assistance with filing temporary restraining orders, case consultations, and court accompaniment
