SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — A Santa Clara County prosecutor used his own 13-year-old daughter to lure a man accused of sexually molesting her weeks earlier back to the spot where the assault took place, the Mercury News reported.

Ali Lajmiri, 76, was arrested last week on suspicion of molesting a girl five different times on the Los Alamitos Creek Trail. Police were already investigating the molestations — alleged to have occurred between August and October — when the prosecutor brought his daughter back to the trail, recorded video of Lajmiri interacting with the girl, and then turned the video over to police.

The prosecutor arranged for his daughter to walk back and forth on the trail while communicating with him over cell phones and earbuds, according to the Mercury News.

The state Attorney General's office has taken over the prosecution of the molestation case due to the prosecutor's conflict of interest. State prosecutors are considering child endangerment charges against the prosecutor, the Mercury News reported.
