Suspects In Custody In Los Gatos Home-Invasion Robbery

The suspects and guns were taken into custody in Modesto, and a vehicle belonging to the victim was recovered.

LOS GATOS, CA — The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office confirmed this afternoon that a regional auto theft task force has recovered the vehicle of the victim of a home invasion robbery that took place near Los Gatos earlier today.

The task force has multiple individuals in custody after the vehicle was found in Modesto and investigators recovered two firearms, sheriff's officials wrote on Twitter shortly after 1:30 p.m.

Deputies responded at about 4:10 a.m. to a 911 call about a home invasion on Bainter Avenue and found a man in his 50s had been robbed and assaulted by five suspects, described as four men and one woman all believed to be in their late teens or early 20s.

There are no further details immediately available from the sheriff's office about which individuals are in custody.

UPDATE 1:08 p.m.

Santa Clara County sheriff's deputies are looking for five suspects following a home invasion robbery near Los Gatos early this morning.

The suspects are described as four men and one woman, all estimated to be in their late teens or early 20s. The suspects possessed at least one handgun, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies responded to a 911 call at approximately 4:10 a.m. about a home invasion on Bainter Avenue. When they found the victim, he needed medical assistance because the suspects had assaulted him. He was taken to a hospital and is in stable condition.

  • (NOTE: Sheriff's officials initially said the home invasion robbery occurred on Redberry Drive. They have since clarified it occurred on nearby Bainter Avenue.)

Deputies have learned from the victim, a man in his 50s, that multiple suspects entered his home and demanded valuables. The victim was home alone.

Investigators are still processing the crime scene for evidence and are requesting residents in the area to review video surveillance if they have any in order to uncover potential leads.

Santa Clara County sheriff's officials are investigating a home invasion and robbery that occurred early this morning in a residential neighborhood near Los Gatos.

According to Santa Clara County sheriff's spokesman Sergeant Richard Glennon, just after 4 a.m. deputies responded to a report of a home robbery on Redberry Drive.

Five suspects are believed to have entered the home and taken items, and one resident is being treated for injuries, Glennon said.

Sheriff's officials are at the scene. Further details were not immediately available.
