Santa Clara County Opens Evacuation Center
The center will be open to Santa Clara County residents as the SCU Lightning Complex rages.
SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — Santa Clara County has opened the Milpitas Library as an evacuation center, the Sheriff’s office announced on Twitter.
The center will be open to Santa Clara County residents as the SCU Lightning Complex rages.
The fires are comprised of 20 blazes burning in Alameda, Santa Clara, Contra Costa and Stanislaus and San Joaquin counties.

The lightning-sparked fires began around 4 a.m. Sunday and have scorched a collective 85,000 acres, Cal Fire reported Wednesday morning.
The Milpitas Library is located at 160 N. Main Street.
