Silicon Valley Jewish Music Festival Comes to JCC in Los Gatos on June 11

The JCC welcomes back the Silicon Valley Jewish Music Festival for its sixth year. You don't have to be Jewish to enjoy this festival.

The Silicon Valley Jewish Music Festival returns to the Jewish Community Center (JCC) in Los Gatos this June for its sixth year. This is the South Bay’s biggest outdoor Jewish cultural festival. You don’t have to be Jewish to participate.

This year’s headliner is Boom Pam, a Tel Aviv-based band whose blend of Mediterranean rock and surf music has made them a sensation in Israel. Also in the lineup are Sephardic folk music from DeLeon, and The Pop Ups, a puppet rock opera for children.

The festival will be held Sunday, June 11 from 2:00-7:00pm on the athletic field at the Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center (JCC), 14855 Oka Road, Los Gatos, California.

There will also be a wide selection of food (kosher available), innovative artisan vendors, and community activity booths with entertainment for the whole family. Activities will include face painting, carnival games, and more.

This is an outdoor festival on the JCC’s athletic field, so bring a blanket or lawn chairs.

The gates open at 1:45pm, and the activities begin at 2:00pm, with food, a KidZone, and Russian dancers. The first band to perform will be The Pop Ups at 2:30pm, followed by DeLeon at 4:15pm, and Boom Pam at 5:45pm. Performance times are approximate.

Admission to the Silicon Valley Jewish Music Festival is $12 general admission, $8 for APJCC members, and $5 for seniors, students, and children. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Free parking will be available at the JCC at 14855 Oka Road, Los Gatos, with overflow parking available at nearby businesses.

About Boom Pam

Tel Aviv-based band Boom Pam formed in 2003. They play a mixture of Mediterranean rock and surf music in the format of a unique quartet including electric guitar, tuba, keyboard, and drums. Last summer, Boom Pam performed with Selda on the main stage at the Primavera Festival in Barcelona. Today they continue to tour around the world, and are forever creating interesting collaborations with various musicians in Israel and abroad. The band recently released a single with the successful Israeli hip hop artist, Nechi Nech.

About DeLeon

DeLeon uses its own distinctive style of rock to transform Sephardic folk music into a sound that is both brand new and centuries old. They released two albums on JDub Records and have toured internationally with other like-minded bands such as Gogol Bordello, Os Mutantes, Ozomatli and Balkan Beat Box. Their 3rd LP, Tremor Fantasma, was recorded in Mexico City and was released October 2012.
