South Bay Resident And Giants Fan Appears On 'Jeopardy!'

LOS GATOS, CA — South Bay resident Sam Stapleton appeared as a contestant on "Jeopardy!" this week and earned some additional social media attention due to his baseball allegiance.

Stapleton, a San Francisco Giants fan from Los Gatos, was introduced by guest host Mike Richards on Monday's show after another contestant, Walnut Creek resident Natalie Tyson, said she was an Oakland A's fan.

Tyson talked about her connection with the A's mascot, "Stomper." But Stapleton brought out the ultimate trump card when it comes to the Giants.

"They're a bit of a good luck charm," Stapleton said. "In 2010, my wife and I bought our first house and they won the World Series. In 2012, my son Andrew was born and they won the World Series. In 2014, my daughter Grace was born, they won the World Series."

He added: "So in 2021, getting on 'Jeopardy!', it's their year again."

Monday was Stapleton's day, as the college consultant won his second straight game to collect over $50,000 in combined earnings. Unfortunately, his win streak and time on "Jeopardy!" was snapped the following day.
