Tech Firm Contributes To Silicon Valley Amid COVID-19 Crisis
Semiconductor supplier SK hynix America and its subsidiary have donated 50,000 surgical masks and given $500,000 to fund local charities.

SAN JOSE, CA — A South Korean technology company with a Silicon Valley footprint has made a local contribution to help confront the COVID-19 crisis.
San Jose-based semiconductor supplier SK hynix America and SK hynix memory solutions America have donated 50,000 surgical masks to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, and given $500,000 to fund Silicon Valley groups assisting those affected by the economic impact of COVID-19.
Both companies are subsidiaries of SK hynix Inc., which is based in South Korea.

“This face mask donation comes at a proper time. Tremendous thank you to SK Hynix,” SCVMC’s COO Michael Elliott said. “Face masks are needed in high numbers because we are using so many in every hospital on a daily basis to protect healthcare workers and that is really critical right now.”
The Silicon Valley Strong Fund, which supports low-income Silicon Valley families and Second Harvest of Silicon Valley, one of the state’s largest food banks, are among the groups SK hynix has contributed to.

“It’s very meaningful to be able to contribute to the communities in the US, especially in the time of COVID-19,” said Tony Yoon, who heads SKHMS America
America, the subsidiary company.
“I am happy that SK hynix supports healthcare workers and low-income families who are going through tough and challenging times.”
