Woman, 18 and Possibly Pregnant, Was Fatality Victim In Today's Hwy 101 Crash
The early-morning collision was south of Tully Road.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA – An 18-year-old possibly pregnant woman died hours after a two-car collision on southbound U.S. Highway 101 in San Jose early this morning, California Highway Patrol officials said.
CHP officers responded at 1:50 a.m. to the collision on Highway 101 just south of Tully Road where a 1998 Honda Civic veered off the road and hit the rear end of a 2002 BMW 745i.
CHP officials initially said the collision occurred on the Tully Road off-ramp.

The three people involved in the collision reported minor injuries initially and were taken to hospitals.
But at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, doctors found the 18-year-old woman, who was presumed pregnant, had suffered traumatic injuries to her torso. She died at 5:30 a.m. in the hospital's operating room.

The name of the woman, a San Jose resident, is not yet being released.
The 20-year-old driver of the Honda, in which the 18-year-old woman was a passenger, was taken to Regional Medical Center of San Jose where he remains with moderate injuries, CHP Officer Ross Lee said.
Hung Tran, the 22-year-old San Jose resident driving the BMW, suffered moderate injuries. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI, Lee said. CHP officials said the driver of the Honda, a San Jose resident, was not suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Tran's BMW was parked on the right shoulder of the highway when the Honda struck it. Both cars sustained major damage.
The collision is under investigation.
