Ground Broken on $74 Million Second Phase of Malibu Campus Project (schoolconstructionnews.com) β A major $74 million expansion of the Malibu Middle and High School campus is now underway, adding a new middle school core building and a separate gym designed around student wellness and coastal surroundings. The National Weather Service warns that high tides could flood low-lying areas like parking lots and paths, and urges residents to stay out of the water, avoid rock jetties, and protect floodβprone property.

'The Space Between' Brings Authenticity to the Malibu City Gallery (pepperdine-graphic.com) β An intimate photography exhibition by Malibu-raised artist Jessie Chaney is now on display at the Malibu City Gallery inside City Hall through Oct. 23, exploring nature, grief, and healing. Featuring series like "Spirit in the Sky" and "As Above, So Below," the show highlights Malibu's influence on her work and offers residents a reflective, locally rooted art experience.

State Parks Lifeguards and VCFD Rescue Dog After Vehicle Crashes into Surf Near Malibu - California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (cslea.com) β Emergency crews responded after a vehicle plunged off Highway 1 near Deer Creek Road, just north of Malibu, landing in the surf with a driver and two dogs inside. Ventura County firefighters and State Parks lifeguards freed a trapped dog, and the driver was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, underscoring the coordinated response of regional agencies residents rely on along this stretch of coast.
