Body Found Inside Crashed Car In Malibu

Firefighters found a body in car off Malibu Canyon Road after putting out a half-acre blaze Sunday.

MALIBU, CA — Firefighters discovered a body inside a crashed car on the side of Malibu Canyon Road Sunday night. Firefighters think that the car fell about 300 feet.

The body was discovered at around 9 p.m., after firefighters had stopped forward progress on a half-acre brush fire that began near the intersection of South Malibu Canyon and Malibu Knolls roads. This smaller fire came after a two-alarm fire burned 93 acres at Malibu State Park.

"We don't know if the death was related to the brush fire or to the crash," Ornelas told City News Service. "It's my understanding the car fell about 300 feet and firefighters were in the process of recovering the body.''
