Dangerous Road Conditions Throughout Malibu, Avoid Driving: City

A winter storm is causing dangerous road conditions throughout the city.

MALIBU, CA — Malibu roads were in bad shape Thursday morning with downed trees, flooding, mudslides and debris in the roadways before 9:30 a.m.

The city advised motorists to avoid the roads in and around the city entirely around 9:15 a.m. By this time, Decker Canyon Road was closed at the State Route 1 (Pacific Coast Highway) due to rockslides.

Additionally, Civic Center Way and Stuart Ranch Road saw flooding Thursday morning. Leo Carillo State Beach west of PCH saw significant flooding as well, causing dozens of evacuations, according to the city.

Earlier Thursday morning, a downed tree closed one westbound lane on PCH near Escondido Beach and another westbound lane was closed at PCH and Puerco Canyon Road due to a mudslide, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department, Lost Hills station.

If drivers must be on the road, the city advises residents to keep their headlights on and to be prepared for dangerous conditions.
