Emily Shane Memorialized with Street Sign
The marker is at Heathercliff Road and PCH, near where she was killed in 2010.

The Emily Shane Way street sign will be officially unveiled at this afternoon, on a day that would have been her 15th birthday. The sign actually went up Monday at the intersection of Heathercliff Road and Pacific Coast Highway, near the spot where Emily was killed in April 2010 at age 13 when she was struck by a vehicle. The name of Heathercliff Road will remain the same.
Also at the event, Emily's parents—Michel and Ellen—will talk about the foundation named in their daughter's honor. The Emily Shane Foundation, which recently earned nonprofit status, funds a new Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District program called Successful Educational Achievement. It will provide tutoring to middle school students who have learning or processing issues.
"This is truly a special day," Michel Shane wrote in an email to Malibu Patch. "What would have been Emily's 15th birthday is now a day where she will always be part of the fabric of our community. The sign will act as a reminder of Emily and for everyone to drive safely."
