Friday Wave Check

Surf picks up a bit!

Waking up with the waves on Friday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Malibu Patch surf report. Well, we're seeing more swell out there, but it's still nothing to get too excited about. So, if you're looking to score some more sizeable surf, you're going to have do some driving up north a bit.

We're starting off with some fairly clean conditions early on, with a combo of west/northwest swell; some northwest energy and southerly swell in the mix.  That recipe is offering some fast sectiony lines, with a few fun workable corners, but some of the sets are a bit walled at the better beach breaks.

Most Malibu spots are running about knee- to waist-high, with the focal points pulling some stomach-high waves and a few inconsistent chest-high sets.

Unfortunately, we're still dealing with those extreme tides ... so if you can you'll want to get out there once the tide has dropped a bit, but before it drains out all the way.

At 9:26 this morning the tide climbs up to a 5.4 high, which will have many breaks off to a slow start. The tide will drop to a negative 0.3 low at 4:07 p.m.

If you're going to get wet, you'll need at least a 3/2 fullsuit and possibly the booties, with the water temperature averaging between 56 and 57 degrees.  See ya in the water!
