Malibu Runners Complete Boston Marathon
Kenya's Geoffrey Mutai runs fastest time ever and three Malibu residents finish the race.

The 115th Boston Marathon on Monday included about 27,000 runners from 90 countries—and three people from Malibu. Michael Anderson, 41, covered the 26.2-mile course in 3 hours, 15 minutes, 37 seconds. He ran at a 7:28-per-mile pace and was finisher No. 4,058 (707 in his division).
Fellow Malibu resident Steve J. Arce, 46, completed the distance in 3:33:47, running at an 8:10-per-mile pace and finishing No. 8,732 (1,212 in his division).
The only local woman to finish the race was 43-year-old Julia Clark, who clocked 3:49:07, good enough for No. 13,138 (792 in her division). She ran the race at an 8:45-per-mile pace.

Despite shattering the previous best marathon time of 2:03:59 set in 2008 by Ethiopian Haile Gebrselassie in Berlin, Mutai's effort is not officially recognized as a world mark because the course is not considered record-eligible by the International Association of Athletics Federations.
