Malibu High Volleyball Unrelenting in Carpinteria Win
The Sharks lose the first game, but are victorious in the final three to win the match.
The girls varsity volleyball players continue to grow as a team. A great example of this was Tuesday's victory over Carpinteria, in which the Sharks lost the first game, but came roaring back with three straight victories to win the match (19-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-16).
Malibu's loss in the first game was due to overall poor serving. The victory in the second game was done in comeback style. The golden hands of Allison Hahn set ball after ball on the mark for Sharks spikers Amara Gwyn, Bridgette Ricketts, Gigi Hadid, Paige Stoker and "Big" Mak Kizis. Hadid was clutch with putting her serves in play. Logan Beitler showed maturity and poise when asked to come in and make key serves. Stoker, celebrating her 18th birthday, led the team in key serves and inspiring spikes.
Game three was a tradeoff point for point until Malibu star Coral Silverberg took the wind out of the Carpinteria sails with astonishing dig after dig of the Warriors' key players. Again, Hadid showed a new level of amazing hitting on sets by Hahn. Her power was showcased by an exceptionally hard hit ball into the chest of a Carpinteria player, which emphasized her offensive dominance at the net.

Game four was a testament of will as Gwyn and Ricketts stopped everything in the middle.
"I love my team, we really have fun and it's a great year to be on the team," Shark Maddie Rotman said after the match.

Moorea Maguire added, "Maybe winning isn't everything. But it sure feels great to win."
