Malibu Hosts Wilderness First Aid Class
The two-day class will help community members be prepared for natural disasters or other emergencies in urban, wilderness and remote areas.
MALIBU, CA — The City of Malibu will be hosting a Wilderness and Remote First Aid class to help community members be prepared for natural disasters or other emergencies in urban, wilderness and remote areas, the City press release said.
The American Red Cross class will be offered Saturday, June 22 and Saturday, June 29 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Malibu City Hall. The class focuses on wilderness and remote environments, as well as urban disasters such as earthquakes, wildfires and mudslides. It will provide students with the "foundational skills necessary for action in emergencies when professional emergency services providers cannot respond immediately," the press release said.
The class costs $170, which covers the cost of textbooks and class materials, and all proceeds will go towards Soteria Training Services. Portions of the class will be held outside, so students should bring a hat, chair, sunscreen and water.
