Malibu's speed camera program to begin operating along Pacific Coast Highway soon (cbsnews.com) — Malibu drivers will soon see speed cameras installed along a 21‑mile stretch of Pacific Coast Highway, with a public education push underway now and citations possible as early as November. The state‑authorized pilot aims to curb deadly crashes, using lidar cameras that only record speeding vehicles, send mailed warnings for 60 days, and then issue fines that fund local road safety projects.
   

2. Legendary Zuma lifeguards make breakfast for their fellow guards — The Malibu Times (malibutimes.com) — Three legendary Heinrich brothers, who together logged more than 166 years as Malibu lifeguards, returned to Zuma Lifeguard Headquarters to cook a "nearly annual" pancake breakfast for current and retired guards and their families. The gathering celebrated decades of rescues, shared stories from busy Zuma summers, and reinforced the tight-knit, family-style culture that defines Malibu's beach safety community.
   

3. Women's Volleyball Breaks Out Brooms, Sweeps South Dakota State (pepperdinewaves.com) — Pepperdine's women's volleyball team kept its perfect start alive in Malibu, sweeping South Dakota State 3–0 at Firestone Fieldhouse and setting up another home match against Sacramento State on Sunday. Local fans are invited to grab tickets and watch standout performances from hitters like Chloe Pravednikov and Ella Piskorz as the Waves chase another strong season.
   

4. Shirley MacLaine, 92, makes rare appearance during relaxed Malibu lunch outing (hellomagazine.com) — Malibu diners may have spotted 92-year-old Shirley MacLaine enjoying a relaxed lunch at Kirsty's, one of several local restaurants she frequents around town. The Oscar-winning actress now spends much of her time quietly in Malibu, crediting a lifetime of dance, nature, and living on her own terms for her health while still occasionally taking on new creative projects.
