Police have taken a suspect in custody after a chase and standoff that shut down PCH Tuesday afternoon.
MALIBU, CA — Pacific Coast Highway from Sweetwater Mesa Road to Carbon Canyon Road in Malibu has shut down in both directions after a standoff between police and a truck driver reported to be driving recklessly.
Police forcibly took the man into custody just after 3 p.m. according to LAPD Officer Mike Chan, who says the truck will soon be towed away and lanes reopened.
The silver Ford 1-150 truck, which stalled because of an attached trailer with a flat tire, was surrounded on PCH and Carbon Canyon Road in Malibu by police from Los Angeles County at around 2:30 as authorities waited for the driver to exit the vehicle.

The Los Angeles Police Department initiated the pursuit in the Topanga area around 2 p.m., after the suspect allegedly hit a few parked cars and continued driving, according to LAPD Officer Mike Chan.
Authorities believe sparks from the broken axle of the driver's trailer may have sparked a nearby brush fire on N. Topanga Canyon Blvd, but Chan said this has not been confirmed.
