Malibu High Baseball is battling for first place in the highly competitive Tri-Valley Conference.

The Sharks defense committed crucial errors in a 6-4 conference loss to Nordhoff on Wednesday at Malibu High School.

Matt Gruskin started on the hill for the Sharks and left after the fourth inning down 6-1, when the Sharks committed four errors and allowed five unearned runs to cross the plate, ultimately doing them in.

The Sharks came back to score three more runs and made the game 6-4 and had the tying runs on base in the seventh inning, but could not get the clutch hit they needed to complete the comeback.

The Sharks, along 3 other teams, had a victory added to their win column and a loss taken away, as Oaks Christian High was found guilty of playing an ineligible player and have been forced to forfeit the games he played in and he played against the Sharks in their one loss to Oaks on March 21.

The Sharks beat Oaks 16-8 on March 23 meaning that Malibu (and Nordhoff) have now officially won both games against Oaks Christian this year.

The Sharks hope to rebound on Friday against Nordhoff.
