Singer Seal Won't Face Sexual Battery Charges: Los Angeles DA

A Malibu woman claimed the singer molested her when she came to retrieve a salad spinner she'd lent him.

MALIBU, CA – The singer Seal won't face criminal charges in the sexual battery complaint filed by a former neighbor, according to TMZ. The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office reportedly rejected the case, citing lack of witnesses or evidence to corroborate allegations made by the actress Tracey Birdsall. The statute of limitations has also run out – Birdsall claimed the assault happened in Feb. 2016, according to documents obtained by TMZ.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department was investigating claims from a Malibu woman that her neighbor, the singer Seal, molested her when she went to his home to retrieve a salad spinner she had lent him. Deputies from the department's Malibu/Lost Hills station were called to the 28900 block of Verde Mesa Lane in Malibu last week on a report of a "neighbor disturbance," CBS Los Angeles reported.

Deputies determined there was no disturbance that day, but the woman reported being the victim of a sexual battery in Nov. 2016, authorities told Los Angeles Times. Sheriff's named Samuel Henry Olusegun, better known as Seal, as the suspect.

Although Sheriff's didn't name the victim, TMZ reports it was actress Tracey Birdsall. Birdsall told the celebrity news outlet that when she went to retrieve her salad spinner, the 54-year-old singer lunged at her, forced himself on top of her, and attempted to kiss her. When she shouted "What are you doing?" the singer replied, "I'm kissing you!"

Birdsall claims Seal then began to insinuate she was asking for it based on her outfit, a tank top and shorts, and he began to grope her breasts, TMZ reported. Birdsall told TMZ she demanded him to stop.

The actress told TMZ she felt the need to report the crime after Seal posted a video to his Facebook page encouraging women to speak out against sexual misconduct, using the hashtag #TellTheTruth.
