The event, which took place in conjunction with the Malibu Surf and Sport Festival, featured 32 top teams competing in the new league's first tournament in California. Winning the women's tournament was the top-seeded team of Jenny Kropp and Whitney Pavlik. The men's championship was claimed by the ninth-seeded duo of Adam Roberts and Braidy Halverson.
