Motorcyclist Injured in South Bay Crash
The crash happened at the intersection of El Segundo Boulevard and Van Ness Avenue early Thursday morning.

A motorist riding a three-wheeled Can-Am Spyder motorcycle suffered critical injuries Thursday in a collision with a Volkswagen Beetle near an intersection in Hawthorne, police said.
Firefighters and paramedics dispatched at 2:08 a.m. to the intersection of El Segundo Boulevard and Van Ness Avenue rushed at least one person to a hospital, according to a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher.
Hawthorne police Lt. Ti Goetz said the motorcyclist was taken to Harbor- UCLA Medical Center in Torrance.

The biker was going northbound on Van Ness Avenue when the driver in the Volkswagen made an eastbound turn in front of him, resulting in the crash, Goetz said.
The driver of the Volkswagen was not cited or arrested, he said, adding the investigation was still underway.

A SigAlert was issued at 3:43 a.m., closing the intersection. Goetz said the roadway was cleared about 7:40 a.m.
