Attempted Wallet Thief In Custody After Fleeing From Police
The vehicle owner ran out and confronted the would-be thief in Hawthorne. A brief altercation occurred before the thief fled, police said.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA – A man suspected of trying to steal a wallet out of a car was in custody Wednesday morning after briefly fleeing from the police in Hawthorne. Hawthorne police responded to a call of theft at about 7:21 a.m. Wednesday near 134th Street and Inglewood Avenue, police said.
The vehicle owner ran out and confronted the would-be thief, and a brief altercation occurred before the suspect fled, police told Daily Breeze.
The man who police believe to be the suspect was tracked down a short time later and taken into custody, according to Daily Breeze.
