Cops Catch Alleged Burglar Crawling Out Window of Manhattan Beach Home

Responding to a burglar alarm, Manhattan Beach police found a 21-year-old Compton man allegedly in the acting of burglarizing a home.

Officers responding to an audible burglar alarm at a home in Manhattan Beach this afternoon arrested a 21-year-old Compton man they saw climbing out one of the residence’s windows.

Officers were dispatched to the home in the 100 block of Terraza Place about 3:50 p.m. and found a broken window, said Manhattan Beach police spokeswoman Stephanie Martin.

“While waiting for additional units to assist, a suspect was seen climbing out of another window,” Martin said.

The suspect withdrew into the home when he saw the officers, she said.

The officers entered the home, found the suspect and took him into custody, Martin said.

Officers and K-9 units searched the premises to make sure no other suspects were about, she said.

The arrested suspect was identified as Kelvin Melgar.
