Elon Musk's Boring Co. Sells 10,000 Flamethrowers In 2 Days
Although Boring Co. is a tunneling firm, pre-orders for the $500 flamethrowers have already pulled in a whopping $5 million.
MANHATTAN BEACH, CA – Elon Musk's tunneling firm Boring Co. pre-sold 10,000 flamethrowers since Saturday, pulling in a whopping $5 million. Although the flamethrowers have nothing to do with the Hawthorne-based company's mission of creating thousands of tunnels to reduce street traffic, fans flocked to buy them, Los Angeles Times reported.
The Los Angeles entrepreneur also leads SpaceX and Tesla Inc., which Musk has said is in "production hell" as output of the Model 3 electric sedans haven't ramped up as promised. However, devoted fans have followed their tech-Messiah into the abyss of $20 Boring Co. hats (he sold 50,000), $500 flamethrowers promised to ship out this spring, and 3,000 "admittedly overpriced" fire extinguishers at $30 each.
Boring Co. describes the fire-spouting devices as "guaranteed to liven up any party!" on its website, and Musk tweeted out this weekend "Obviously, a flamethrower is a super terrible idea. Definitely don’t buy one," which he followed up with "Unless you like fun."

Don’t do this. Also, I want to be clear that a flamethrower is a super terrible idea. Definitely don’t buy one. Unless you like fun.
