Exquisite Culinary Event With Alcohol Cleared For Manhattan Beach
If also approved by Los Angeles County, 300 people will have the opportunity to wine and dine in the sand as part of the LA Times Food Bowl.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA – Three hundred people seated at one long table on the sand in Manhattan Beach, eating and drinking exquisite foods. That's what Artist Jim Denevan and his company Outstanding in the Field are planning to host on May 24 in Manhattan Beach.
The event was approved by the Manhattan Beach City Council on Tuesday, and will be part of the Los Angeles Times Food Bowl if approved by Los Angeles County. Food writer Jonathan Gold, along with local and regional celebrity chefs, will join in on the event which seeks to bring awareness to sustainable seafood, according to The Beach Reporter.
“We feel very flattered that LA Food Bowl and Outstanding in the Field chose Manhattan Beach,” Kelly Stroman, executive director of the Downtown Manhattan Beach Business and Professionals Association, told the newspaper. “They could have chosen anywhere. They chose Manhattan Beach for its beauty, its culinary scene and the city’s attitude toward sustainability in the ocean.”

Several City Council members voiced their reservations about allowing alcoholic beverages on the beach when approving the event. Until now, alcohol on the beaches has only been permitted during the AVP Manhattan Beach Open, according to The Beach Reporter.
