Food Kept Vanishing From A Manhattan Beach Garage, Then Police Found Out Why: Report

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — A case of mysteriously disappearing food led Manhattan Beach police to an unusual discovery: a man apparently living inside a resident's garage.

Food had been disappearing from a refrigerator inside the garage, and the resident had no idea why, according to the Manhattan Beach Police Department.

When officers arrived, they discovered a man living inside the garage and arrested him, police said.

"A surprise guest in the garage," MBPD wrote in a social media post describing the incident.

Police posted a photograph showing the man in handcuffs but did not identify him or disclose where in Manhattan Beach the incident occurred.

It was unclear how long the man had been living inside the garage, and authorities did not specify what charges he was arrested on, according to KTLA.

The unusual discovery prompted police to remind residents to make sure their garages are secure and to pay attention when something around their homes seems out of the ordinary.

"A good reminder to keep your garage secured and stay aware of anything unusual around your property," MBPD said.
