Fans Flock To Chick-fil-A Opening In South Bay

EL SEGUNDO, CA — Chick-fil-A opened its latest restaurant today in El Segundo —a launch that attracted throngs of fans for the Red Carpet Rollout held Wednesday night.

Among the chain's signature events is the "rollout" festivities for a new store opening. And this one did not disappoint as scads of Chick-fil-A aficionados turned out en masse vying to be the first 100 in line to score a year of free meals.

Located at 740 N. Pacific Coast Hwy., the restaurant, with indoor seating for 118 and an outdoor patio, features a double-deck parking garage and double-ordering lanes and is operated by franchise owner Carol Ruiz.

Ruiz, a Los Angeles resident, brings a business history of brand-building after more than 25 years working for Estee Lauder. Ruiz was encouraged to dive into a Chick-fil-A franchise opportunity by her sister, a Chick-fil-A Operator in Maple Grove, MN. The more Ruiz learned about the brand, the more she was drawn to its culture of hospitality and corporate purpose, company officials said.

“I am excited to introduce Chick-fil-A to the El Segundo community where I can meet the needs of our guests both inside and outside my restaurant,” said Ruiz. “I am committed to making a positive impact as I develop my team members, while together we can care for and provide a remarkable experience for each of our guests, who become part of our family.”

Securing a slot as a Chick-fil-A operator is no small feat as the company receives nearly 60,000 applications annually for approximately franchise opportunities, management noted.

The El Segundo locale will employ approximately 120 employees, and will be open Mondays through Saturdays from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
