Friday Wave Check

Conditions likely to take a turn for the worse!

Waking up with the waves on Friday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Manhattan Beach Patch surf report.  Well, if you're looking to get wet, then do it this morning!  Yep, the latest storm has yet to arrive, but once it does...don't be surfprised if those conditions take a turn for the worse.

It's starting off fairly clean, with some spots seeing a little texture on it.  We've got a mixture of slowly fading west, northwest swell and some small south, southwest energy in the background.  That's providing some kinda crumbly semi-walled lines, with some good ones to be had.

Most spots in Manhattan Beach are seeing waist to shoulder high waves, with the standout breaks pulling head high waves, with maybe a few larger sets.

At 8:44 a.m. the tide pushes up to a 6.3 high which will definitely have some spots pretty full or a bit backwashy mid-morning.  The tide then drains out to a negative 1.1 low at 3:21 p.m.

If you're planning on paddling, throw on at least the 3/2 fullsuit or the 4/3 and maybe the boots, with the water temperature averaging between 56 and 57 degrees.  See ya in the water!

FYI...county health officials urge surfers and swimmers to stay out of the ocean after a rain for at least 72 hours due to increased bacteria levels, especially near harbors, river mouths and storm drains.
