Man May Have Medical Emergency Before Fatal Crash In Hawthorne: Police

CPR was administered at the scene and the man was transported to the hospital where he died.

HAWTHORNE, CA — A man may have had a medical emergency Wednesday before being involved in a two-vehicle crash in Hawthorne and being pronounced dead at a hospital, police said.

The crash was reported about 2:20 p.m. on southbound Hawthorne Boulevard at 118th Street, according to Hawthorne police.

A county fire department dispatcher said CPR was administered to one person at the scene and the patient was taken to a hospital.

Police later reported that the man had died, and had possibly suffered a medical emergency before the crash.

No other injuries were reported.

The southbound lanes of Hawthorne Boulevard were closed near the crash scene until about 7 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
