Man Shot, Killed Outside South Bay Home
A man walked up to the victim, produced a hand gun and opened fire, striking him multiple times in the upper body, police said.

HAWTHORNE, CA -- Authorities on Tuesday are investigating the death of a man in Hawthorne who was gunned down while leaving a residence.
The shooting was reported at 8:41 p.m. Monday in the 11900 block of Daleside Avenue, where Hawthorne police officers found the victim slumped over the steering wheel of his parked vehicle.
Sheriff's homicide detectives were summoned to the scene to assist in the investigation, according to Deputy Kimberly Alexander of the Sheriff's Information Bureau.

Detectives learned the victim was getting into his car after leaving a residence at the location. A man walked up to the victim, produced a hand gun and opened fire, striking him multiple times in the upper body, Alexander said.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he died.

Information about the shooter was not immediately available.
