Mustangs Boys Basketball Home Game Tonight
The mustangs square off against Royal High tonight at 7 p.m. in the Fischer Gym.

Who needs the NBA All Star Weekend this weekend? Not the Mira Costa Boys Basketball team. The Mustangs are coming off their biggest win of the season, a 62-54 beating of the #6 Cardinals of San Bernardino High School on Wednesday. The Cardinals, who had an undefeated season in league play, were eliminated in the first round of CIF by a focused and determined Costa team.
Costa will host the 2nd round CIF game at 7 p.m. on Friday in Fischer Gym, facing Royal High School from Simi Valley. This will be a very competitive match up, with neither team wanting their seasons to come to an end.
Although Mira Costa’s record is not that respectable from a win-loss ratio, the team has battled some of the best competition the South Bay has had in many years. They nearly beat the #1 rated Panther’s of Peninsula twice this season. They lost in the last seconds at Peninsula and two weeks later at Costa while having the lead with seconds remaining in the rematch, only to lose in over time.

The team is tested, tough and determined to make a significant showing in this season’s CIF tournament. If they battle and play with the same intensity and poise they showed in Wednesday night’s game, they will be tough to beat.
