Mysterious Illness Sickens 12 on Plane Landing at LAX

Federal health authorities have ruled out contagious disease as the culprit that made a dozen people aboard a Fiji Airways flight sick.

Twelve people aboard a Fiji Airways flight that landed at Los Angeles International Airport around 1:15 p.m. have been treated after reporting they were suffering from nausea, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The dozen passengers, who suffered from vomiting and diarrhea throughout the flight, were apparent victims of food poisoning, said Nancy Castle, spokeswoman for Los Angeles International Airport.

“While not travelling together, all 12 sick passengers reportedly stayed in the same hotel in Nadi and experienced the same symptoms,” Castle said.
