Pacific Elementary Celebrates Kinderthon

Kindergarteners receive rousing support in their annual run.

Pacific Elementary's annual Kinderthon turned the upper grades into a cheering squad for the kindergarten classes Friday morning, while encouraging fitness, teamwork and school spirit.

"I started running the Manhattan 10K, and I thought it would be fun to start something for the kindergarteners to promote good health," said kindergarten teacher Louann Evans on the event's 30-year-old origins. "It's all for fun, for kids, for health, and I love it."

This year, Daryl Evans, who scored the most famous goal in Los Angeles Kings history, was a VIP guest at the event.

their first year in grade school," said event volunteer Kelly Kelley. "And it's supported by the entire school, they all get come to out and watch."
