Passenger Killed in Suspected Drunken Driving Crash
The single-car crashed happened at around 11 p.m. and several witnesses say the driver and passenger were trapped after the car hit a wall.

A car crash in Manhattan Beach left a man dead and another man facing a possible charge of drunken driving, police said Tuesday.
The single-vehicle crash occurred about 11 p.m. Monday on Ardmore Avenue at 19th Street, according to Stephanie Martin of the Manhattan Beach Police Department.
“Multiple callers reported a vehicle had struck a wall and occupants were trapped inside,” Martin said. “Witnesses provided assistance until police and paramedics arrived.”

The passenger in the 1999 Chevrolet Camaro died at the scene. He was identified as Javier Rubio, 24, of Lawndale, Martin said.
The driver, Brandon Mark Rodriguez, also 24 and from Hawthorne, allegedly “was under the influence of alcohol and driving at a high rate of speed,” Martin said. Rodriguez was taken to a hospital for treatment.
